Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the well-known Channel 4 newsreader, received a warm welcome as he presented a category at the 19th Annual Urban Music Awards in London on February 28th.

The event, which took place at the Porchester in London, featured a number of high-profile presenters and performers from the UK’s urban music scene. Guru-Murthy was given the task of announcing the winner of the Most Inspiring Act award, which was won by British rapper, Bugzy Malone.

Despite being best known for his work as a journalist and news anchor, Guru-Murthy seemed at ease on stage, charming the crowd with his wit and easy-going manner. The audience responded with cheers and applause as he took the stage. Speaking to VooVix TV he commented;

“I was honoured to present an award at the 19th Annual Urban Music Awards last night,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome.”

The response to Guru-Murthy’s appearance at the event has been overwhelmingly positive, with many fans praising him for his willingness to step outside his comfort zone and engage with a different audience.

“Krishnan is a man of many talents,” wrote one Twitter user. “It was great to see him presenting at the Urban Music Awards. He’s a true professional and a credit to British journalism.”

Another added: “Krishnan has always been one of my favourite newsreaders. It’s great to see him embracing new opportunities and bringing his trademark charm and humour to the stage.”

Overall, it seems that Guru-Murthy’s appearance at the Urban Music Awards was a big success, and it will be interesting to see if he continues to explore new opportunities outside of his traditional role as a newsreader in the future.
